Cheryl began her career as a Basic Emergency Medical Technician with Faith Ambulance in 1988. In 1991, she obtained her paramedic license and continued to work for both Faith and Mercy Ambulance Services, which later became Mobile Medical Response, Inc.

In addition to her years on the road, Cheryl was also assigned to the Mobile Intensive Care Unit and worked as a Telephone Triage Specialist and Dispatcher in the Medical Communications division of MMR. After leaving MMR, Cheryl came to work for CMU Healthcare and began her position with Saginaw Valley Medical Control Authority in July 2003.

As the EMS Coordinator, Cheryl conducts System Orientation for newly-hired personnel of all 28 SVMCA agencies, tracks credentials for the 800+ personnel within SVMCA, conducts vehicle and agency inspections to insure compliance with SVMCA regulations, assists in addressing complaints and concerns generated by Incident Reports, and maintains the PAD and AED programs.

Cheryl was an active participant disaster preparedness and is the SVMCA representative on the Advisory Committee for the Region 3 HealthCare Preparedness Network. She worked closely with the Emergency Medicine Department and the Simulation Lab at CMU Healthcare assisting with the education of Staff, Medical Students, and Residents in Basic Life Support (BLS) as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor.
