Peggy has been a long time Saginaw resident and is a full time employee of Synergy Medical in the multidisciplinary SYNAPSE Center. Peggy earned her A.S. degree in management from Delta College (1989), practical nurse certification from Delta College (1990), an A.S. in nursing from Davenport University (1993), B.S. degree in nursing from Ferris State University (1998), a M.S. degree in nursing from Saginaw Valley State University (2004), and a M.A. degree in educational technology from University of Northern Colorado (2007).

Peggy’s nursing career began at MidMichigan Regional Medical Center in 1991 as a licensed practical nurse. She then returned to school and joined the nursing staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in 1991. Her clinical background is diverse, and includes a variety of patient care areas consisting of general surgical/medical, pediatrics, labor and delivery, and being a member of the resource team. Peggy’s administrative responsibilities have included serving as the institutional review board (IRB) coordinator and as a case management specialist for Covenant HealthCare.

Since 2003, Peggy has been involved in nursing education. She has taught in undergraduate nurse programs, RN to BSN programs, and practical nurse programs at area universities and colleges. Most recently as a nursing faculty member, she has been a pediatric nursing instructor, as well as an OB and pediatric clinical instructor. Fall 2005, marked the time Peggy first become involved with health care simulation. She began working with human patient simulators in the nursing program at Saginaw Valley State University. She was also involved in an innovative grant project which was designed to train professionals to improve judgment and decision making skills in law enforcement, human resources and emergency medicine.

Peggy is currently a doctoral student at Michigan State University in the Family and Child Ecology program. She is particularly interested in the relationship of people and their digital environments. Peggy’s interests are centered on technology, teaching, and learning. She has a particular interest in the critical judgment and reasoning processes that occur during simulation, as well as virtual and online learning environments.
Professional organizations that Peggy belongs to include Society for Simulation in Healthcare, Sigma Theta Tau International and the Mid-west Nursing Research Society. Her certifications include basic cardiac life support (BLS), advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and pediatric advanced life support (PALS).
