May 4, 2010 – We are excited to be working with KB Port, LLC (Allison Park, PA) on the development of their RAMSES center management suite. Based partly upon the database concept originally developed by SYNAPSE, this software suite will allow scheduling and coordination of learners, faculty, simulation resources, and assessment tools. April 28, 2010 – Dr. Steve Vance and Peggy Ursuy presented at the Emergency Medicine Residents Association of Michigan (EMRAM) spring conference on the campus of Michigan State University. At the request of the EMRAM president, SYNAPSE conducted a SIMWARS competition involving teams from the Detroit Medical Center, Beaumont Hospital, Synergy Medical Education Alliance, and Sparrow Medical Center. Emergency Medicine residents and faculty from throughout the state attended the conference.
March 24, 2010 – Dr. Steve Vance and Peggy Ursuy joined Dr. David Lock MD, from the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Consortium (MERC), as presenters at the Pediatric Emergency Care Conference held at the Prince Conference Center, Calvin College. Dr. Vance and Dr. Lock presented “Pediatric Emergency: A Simulated Education Experience” with a team of residents and nurses to create a simulated pediatric emergency case and debriefing. Peggy, along with Dr. Vance and Dr. Lock, presented “Now it’s Your Turn: Hand’s on Simulation Nursing Practice” break-out session. The conference was attended by approximately 100 nurses from around the state of Michigan.
March 2010 – We are pleased to announce that SYNAPSE and Central Michigan University Physician Assistant program have successfully completed ACLS and PALS training for 47 students in the 2009-10 academic year.
February 24-25, 2010 – SYNAPSE conducted 2 days of obstetrical emergency training at Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center in Midland, MI. Obstetricians, Midwives, and Labor/Delivery Nurses all participated in shoulder dystocia and post-partum hemorrhage scenarios conducted on our Gaumard Noelle simulator. All scenarios were videotaped and team debriefing sessions were subsequently conducted.
January 2010 – Dr. Vance presented a video highlighting various training sessions conducted at SYNAPSE at the 10th annual International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare in Phoenix, Arizona. January 2010 – Congratulations to Dr. Steve Vance for being elected secretary of EM special interest group for SSIH during the recent International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare in Phoenix, AZ.
