The Department of Pediatrics is committed to the philosophy that infants and children deserve quality medical care. To achieve this goal, the department offers in-depth pediatric education for Michigan State University College of Human Medicine medical students, some of whom will be involved in pediatric care as specialists in pediatrics or family practice.

Inpatient pediatric education also is provided for Family Medicine residents by exposing them to educational experiences in a general pediatric unit and in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Family Medicine residents taking pediatrics and pediatric electives are instructed by volunteer pediatricians and specialists in neonatology, pediatric intensive care, pediatric allergy, pediatric cardiology and pediatric neurology. In addition, the department provides a genetics clinic, a cleft palate clinic and a pediatric consultation clinic.
