Internal Medicine - Meet the Faculty
A full-time faculty
comprised of board certified internists and sub specialists in the
areas of critical care medicine, infectious disease, pulmonary
medicine and endocrinology, in conjunction with more than 40 clinical
attending faculty permits in-depth, one-on-one academic teaching
environment for residents. All hold faculty appointments
from MSU-CHM.
| Christine Rohr, D.O. Dr. Rohr is the Program Director & Chair Internal Medicine. She received her DO from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a combined residency program in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center at Seton Hall University in Newark, New Jersey. Dr. Rohr is also an Assistant Professor for the Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine and has several national presentation and publications to her credit. |

| Daniel
Elsholz, M.D. Dr. Elsholz is an Assistant Director in Internal Medicine & Endocrinology. He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1996. He completed a dual residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in 2000 through the University of Michigan and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Dr. Elsholz went on to complete a dual fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Michigan as well in 2004. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Endocrinology and Metabolism and Pediatric Endocrinology. Dr. Elsholz joined Synergy Medical Education Alliance in 2004. |

| Suneel Vallabhaneni, M.D. Dr. Vallabhaneni is an Assistant Director of Internal Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Vallabhaneni received his medical degree from Siddhartha Medical College, NTR University Health Sciences, Vijayawada, India in 1997. Dr. Vallabhaneni completed a residency in internal medicine at Hurley Medical Center in 2007. He joined Synergy Medical Education Alliance in July 2007. |

K. Grandhi, M.D., M.P.H Dr. Grandhi is an Assistant Director of Internal Medicine. He received his medical degree from Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada, India in 2000. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine through Synergy Medical Education Alliance in 2008. Dr. Grandhi holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of North Texas, Health Science Center. He joined Synergy Medical Education Alliance in 2008. |

| Iris Mangulabnan, M.D. Dr. Mangulabnan is an Assistant Director of Internal Medicine. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Synergy Medical Education Alliance in 2003. She received her medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines in 1996. In addition to being core faculty at Internal Medicine, Dr. Mangulabnan is also clinical preceptor for Synergy Emergency Medicine and Central Michigan University Physicians' Assistant Program. She joined Synergy Medical Education Alliance in 2010. |

| Ali Karrar, MD, MRCP Dr. Karrar is an accomplished Internist and Rheumatologist. He completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of Khartoum in Sudan. He has completed a Fellowship in Internal Medicine/Rheumatology in Saudi Arabia and a Fellowship in Rheumatology in the United Kingdom. Here in the United States, Dr. Karrar completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Hurley Medical Center through Michigan State University, where he was awarded the Dr. R. Roderic Abbott, Distinguished Resident Award. He then completed his Fellowship in Rheumatology at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, IL though Rush University. Dr. Karrar joined the Internal Medicine Department at Synergy Medical in January of 2011, to provide part-time rheumatology services on a referral basis. He is also on staff on the Michigan Rheumatology Group in Grand Blanc. Dr. Karrar is certified by the American Board of Rheumatology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom, the American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Internal Medicine. |

| Rania Agha, MD Dr. Agha is a board certified dermatologist who specializes in General and Cosmetic Surgery, and Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancer treatment. She completed the prestigious Indiana University School of Medicine Dermatology residency and fellowship in Cosmetic Surgery under the mentorship of world renowned facial plastics surgeon William H. Beeson, MD. Prior to that, Dr. Agha completed a Research Fellowship at Northwestern University where she conducted clinical research in the Department of Dermatology. Dr. Agha is a graduate of the Chicago Medical School and the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Agha joined the Internal Medicine Department at Synergy Medical in July of 2010 as a part-time dermatologist and visiting professor. She is a member of The American Academy of Dermatology, The American Society for Dermatological Surgery, The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and The American Society for Mohs Surgery. |

| Alison McElhone, MD Dr. McElhone is a board certified Internist and Geriatrician. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from State University of New York (SUNY) at Brooklyn College of Medicine. Dr. McElhone then completed her Internal Medicine Residency and her Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at SUNY at Stony Brook. Dr. McElhone joined Synergy Medical in September of 2008 as a Geriatrician in the AGES program. She is currently a member of the Internal Medicine Department as a part-time faculty member and a sub-specialty coordinator for geriatrics. Dr. McElhone is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Geriatric Society. |

| David Nadolski, MD Dr. Nadolski is a certified Internist and Lipidologist. He graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his Internship and Residency at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Dr. Nadolski joined the Internal Medicine Department at Synergy Medical in July of 2010 as a part-time faculty member. He is a member of the Michigan State Medical Society, the Midland County Medical Society, and the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. Dr. Nadolski has served as a guest speaker, throughout the region, on the topics of hyperlipidemia, essential hypertension, and osteoporosis. Dr. Nadolski also has an Internal Medicine practice in Midland. |

| Marilyn Haupt, MD Dr. Haupt is the Associate Director and Director of Research for the Internal Medicine department. She received her medical degree from Cornell College in New York. Dr. Haupt served her internal medicine residency at North Shore University, Manhasset, and Memorial Hospital – Sloan Kettering Institute, both in New York. Her next venture was a critical care fellowship at Albany Medical College of Union University and Ellis Hospital Critical Care Center, located in Schenectady, New York. Upon completion of her fellowship, Dr. Haupt relocated to Michigan and held several positions in the Detroit area before joining Wayne State University School of Medicine where she was appointed Director of the Critical Care Fellowship. She was the Medical Director of Adult Critical Care services at Oregon Health & Science University, and later she was the Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care services at Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania. Dr. Haupt joined Synergy Medical in 2011. Her publication list is extensive and she brings of wealth of research experience to the Internal Medicine department. Dr. Haupt also provides critical care coverage on a part-time basis to St. Mary’s of Michigan and Covenant Healthcare. |
