| Surgical Grand Rounds | |
| Surgical Grand Rounds is a CME certified conference that is held every Thursday from 7:30 am to 10:00 am. | |
| Every second Thursday, grand rounds is dedicated to a combined Emergency Department and Surgery Department “Trauma Grand Rounds” from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. | |
| Morbidity and Mortality | |
| Morbidity and Mortality conference occurs in conjunction with Surgical Grand Rounds and is a minimum of 45 minutes. | |
| All residents are required to submit a morbidity, mortality, or interesting case. | |
| Basic Sciences and Mock Orals | |
| The basic sciences lecture and mock orals are held every Tuesday from 7:00 am to 8:00 am. | |
| The basic sciences session consists of written and verbal questions prepared by the Academic Director of Surgery. | |
| Mock orals are conducted by faculty surgeons or guest surgeons two times per year, once in Saginaw and once in Grand Rapids, MI | |
| Journal Club | |
| Journal Club is held on the second Tuesday of every month from 6:00 pm - to 8:00 pm. | |
| Tumor Conference | |
| Tumor Conference is held every Tuesday & Thursday from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. | |
| Residents are encouraged to participate in didactic presentations and discussions. | |
| Additional Lectures | |
| Basic science and surgical lectures may also be provided by Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Henry Ford Hospital and by other departments within Synergy Medical. |
| Educational Goals and Objectives for the Synergy Medical Surgery Program are provided for each of the specialty areas. Goals and objectives are reviewed and updated annually by each department. |
