  Conferences and Lectures
 
   
  Surgical Grand Rounds
Surgical Grand Rounds is a CME certified conference that is held every Thursday from 7:30 am to 10:00 am.
Every second Thursday, grand rounds is dedicated to a combined Emergency Department and Surgery Department “Trauma Grand Rounds” from 7:00 am to 10:00 am.
   
  Morbidity and Mortality
Morbidity and Mortality conference occurs in conjunction with Surgical Grand Rounds and is a minimum of 45 minutes.
All residents are required to submit a morbidity, mortality, or interesting case.
   
  Basic Sciences and Mock Orals
The basic sciences lecture and mock orals are held every Tuesday from 7:00 am to 8:00 am.
The basic sciences session consists of written and verbal questions prepared by the Academic Director of Surgery.
Mock orals are conducted by faculty surgeons or guest surgeons no less than two times per month.
   
  Journal Club
Journal Club is held on the second Monday of every month from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
   
  Tumor Conference
Tumor Conference is held every Tuesday from 12:00pm to 1:00 pm.
Residents are encouraged to participate in didactic presentations and discussions.
   
  Additional Lectures
Synergy Medical Education Alliance provides core curriculum lectures to all residents during their first three years of residency.
Additional lectures may also be provided by Michigan State University and by other departments within Synergy Medical.
   
   
  Goals and Objectives
 
   
Educational Goals and Objectives for the Synergy Medical Surgery Program are provided for each of the specialty areas. Goals and objectives are reviewed and updated annually by each department.
