Year
I
First-year residents spend 1/2 day per week in the Family Medicine Center (Generations
Family Care). It is here that they begin the continuity
care for their panel of patients that they will see for the 3
years of training. The first month (July) is spent in the community
medicine with the introduction of the resident to the medical
community and services that they will utilize in the provision
of care for their own patients. Included in this month are educational
sessions in ACLS, NALS and ALSO training, as well as clinics
on casting and basic and advanced skin surgery techniques.

The
second-year resident spends 2 hours per day in the Family Medicine
Center providing ongoing care to their respective patient panel.
Residents also rotate through the Family Planning Clinics, a
geriatric assessment service, the Family Practice Procedures
center and Hospice services.

III
The
Third-year resident will spend 3 hours each day seeing their patients
in the office. They will continue to gain experience in procedures
as well as geriatric assessment and will increase their level of
teaching by serving as the chief of the inpatient teaching service
for 2 months. Ample elective time is available for the resident to
select additional training.
