We are happy that you are considering interviewing at our program.
What you will quickly find out is that we are a cohesive group that
loves to have fun and is excited about emergency medicine. The atmosphere
is laid back, as the emphasis is on enjoying the learning experience.
We enjoy our work, get along great with the attendings, and spend
quite a bit of time with each other in social settings. Many of us
are married and have children, and our spouses enjoy spending time
with each other in playgroups and in the newly developed Med Mates
program that is bringing all the families together from all the residency
programs. On this page we have listed a few things that you can anticipate
when you interview with us. We look forward to meeting you and getting
to know you personally. At the bottom of the page we have listed
our contact information. Feel free to ask us about any aspect of
emergency medicine, the application/interview process, or anything
else. We are happy to help you in whatever way we can. |

The interview process |
| |
|
| |
Hopefully you can interview on a day that we are having conference
and will be able to join us for part of it to see how we interact
with each other. The program director will give an overview of the
program with up-to-date statistics about the program and general
information that answers a lot of common questions. You will then
be together with all the applicants in our conference room and have
time to look through our scrapbooks, watch resident videos, and/or
just chat with several residents. Meanwhile, 3-4 attendings (including
the program director, assistant program director and an attending
from St. Mary’s of Michigan and from Covenant) will each interview
each applicant for about a half hour. We will give you a tour of
the hospitals, answer any questions you have, and feed you lunch.
The whole interview day will run from about 8am to 3:30pm. We hope
your experience is a great one and that you strongly consider joining
our family in emergency medicine. |
