Other Medical School Students

Synergy Medical welcomes medical students from other LCME accredited medical schools to participate in the Visiting Medical Student Clerkship Program.  Requests for electives should be received three months prior to the commencement of the elective. 

In order to complete an elective clerkship at Synergy Medical as a visiting student, you must have met all of the prerequisite requirements which are as follows:
  • Completion of all of your core rotations including:
    • General Surgery
    • Internal Medicine
    • Family Medicine
    • Obstetrics/Gynecology
    • Pediatrics
    • Psychiatry
  • USMLE Step 1 Score Report
  • Documented evidence of Blood Borne Pathogen/Universal Precaution Training
  • Certificate of Malpractice Insurance
  • Documented evidence of HIPAA training
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (current) – online training is NOT acceptable
  • Letter of Good Standing
  • Health Requirements
    • Hepatitis B vaccination (the entire series – 3 shots) or proof of Hepatitis B immunity
    • MMR vaccination (2)
    • Polio vaccination (3)
    • Diptheria/Tetanus vaccination within the last 10 years
    • Varicella (chicken pox) vaccination or date of disease
    • Negative TB test within the last 12 months (if the skin test has been positive, a document treatment plan and negative chest x-ray is required)

  • Background check within past 12 months
